Ruska — four weeks when the whole of Lapland turns red and yellow at once. Then the lights come back.
- Ruska
In September the birch and the ground cover turn at the same time and the fells go copper. It lasts about four weeks and it is the reason many Finns take their holiday now.
- Berries and mushrooms
Cloudberry, blueberry, lingonberry and mushrooms, all under everyman's right — you may pick them anywhere, free, including around the cabins.
- Northern lights return
From late August the nights are dark enough again, and September is one of the strongest months of the year.
- Hunting season
State grounds start 100 m from the yard. Small-game permits from Metsähallitus; guided trips separately.
