Lapland Riverside Cabins

Winter

November – April

Polar night, deep snow and the northern lights straight overhead. This is the season people fly here for.

  1. Northern lights

From late August to early April, with the best odds between September and March. There is no streetlight for kilometres, so you do not have to go anywhere — step out of the door and look up.

  2. Snow

The ground is under snow from November to early May. Temperatures run from −5 °C to −40 °C. Both cabins are heated with wood and electricity and stay warm through the night. In the coldest weather you will need to keep the fire running — that is the Arctic Lapland way.

  3. Skiing

Ylläs is 35 minutes away: 63 slopes and 330 km of cross-country trails. Snowmobile and husky trips can be booked separately.

  4. Cold plunge

The Hideaway's spring-fed cold plunge runs in the summer season, at +4 °C. In winter you can cut a hole in the river ice if you want to — the auger and the ice saw are on site.
