The sun does not set. Not late — it does not set at all, for weeks.
- Midnight sun
From late May to late July the sun stays above the horizon. You can fish at two in the morning in full daylight, and most people simply stop looking at clocks.
- Fishing
Grayling in the Äkäsjoki from the door, and salmon on the Tornio-Muonio 4 km away, where you can hire a boat and buy permits.
- Swimming
The river is right there, and warm enough by July. There is a swimming spot and a fire pit at the water's edge.
- Shower and cold plunge
At the Hideaway the indoor shower and the spring-fed cold plunge are in summer use. The spring runs at +4 °C, so it is a genuine plunge even in July.
